I use Ubuntu on my laptop for internet stuff — the soundcard drivers kinda goof up in firefox and skype from time to time but it’s so much faster. Need to keep a desktop Core2Quad w/8GB to run Cubase 4 x64 and FLStudio but I get pissed about it hanging so damn much.

The only thing I missed out of Windows is Dreamweaver, but I substituted for quanta plus.

@ubuntuhelp08 Cinnelera was pretty cheesy, kden constantly crashed and the output screen didn’t work, haven’t tried openshot, I’ll wait for that new light-wave? thing to come out, that looks like a good one for linux. Hopefully by 10.10 that’s out.

@jimbobubbadj I’m not using the command line and I’m not going to compile anything. I don’t want to deal with dependencies and regressions. The .Deb files are fine since one only has to double click it to install. The synaptic manage is ok too. Not all programs are in .Deb or in Synaptic manager, they all must be for easier use. Also some hardware must be configured in linux. In windows its almost all automatic. I too want linux to come out on top.

I agree with you that linux developers should consolidate its formats. They should get the bugs out first before going for the cutting edge stuff. Making it easier to use like Windows is a must!
