What can be done when the Windows 7 desktop background image gets stuck?

Windows 7 infrequently gets stranded upon the desktop credentials picture for no strong reason, frozen the default slip show, or even displaying the blank, black background. And whilst tools of the thesis (folder windows, sounds, shade savers, etc.) have been still adjustable, the credentials picture is not. Restarting the complement as well as even the complement revive won’t help, that is because it can be rarely annoying.

Here’s how to fix the problem…

    Open the following window/folder:

    %USERPROFILE% \ AppData \ Roaming \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Themes \
(if you copy and paste the above line, make sure to delete all the spaces before hitting the enter key; Yahoo Answers didn’t allow me to display the entire path without them!)

Then delete the file TranscodedWallpaper.jpg, or replace it with a background image of your choice with the same name, and try changing the wallpaper/slideshow/theme again! This did solve my problem.

If this didn’t do the trick just yet, you might have to delete the (hidden) file slideshow.ini, located in the above mentioned folder as well. Though then you’ll have to restart your PC. After the restart you’ll likely be free to set a new wallpaper/slideshow/theme.

    Good luck!

Take it back to the store.

Right click on the desktop and choose persnolize.
You will see all your themes. The first one will be unsaved theme. Choose your theme and delete that unsaved theme.

Well, most likely it’s kind of hardware problem which means that you should go back to the seller as long as the computer still under warranty.
Anyway, what you can do is to restore Windows 7 to some safe restore point. Go to Run and then type: msconfig then go to Restore to earlier point.
Also, you have another option, you can restore the entire computer using provided restore CDs. But, note that you should do a backup for your files ahead.
    Good Luck!
