Windows 7 is just Vista sp3. Its slow and still crap. Nothing changed in between xp and 7. Get LINUX its much better and faster.

Just boot from the Windows 7 DVD and after picking your language and clicking next choose to repair your computer. You can let it detect the problem or pick "startup repair" from the choices. It should detect that the bootloader is missing and reinstall just that for you, problem solved. In the future, be careful about wiping your first partition on your disk, because that is where the boot loader goes.

Yes, if you choose to install again by clicking on "Install Now" you will lose your files.

You can choose to do a "repair install".

Basically go through a normal install – do not choose Recovery Console.
When it prompts to install select C and continue.
The install will detect Windows on that drive and ask if you want to continue
select the repair option at that point.

If you have all of your files backed up. You restart the computer, put in the Windows 7 disk and when it says push whatever # to enter setup, you change it to boot directly from the Windows 7 CD. That should work.

Deleting an older Windows OS will render your Windows 7 upgrade inoperable. Unless your Windows 7 is a full version you will have to reinstall Vista and then Reinstall Windows 7 to get your computer operable again.

Back up all your files, you will essentially be formatting your drives & will delete programs, files & settings.

    Good Luck!
